Sleep Apnea is an epidemic! Fortunately, there is a dental solution for this critical medical life-threatening condition with a temporary suspension of breathing as a symptom.

CPAP is an acronym for "continuous positive airway pressure" and it’s referring to the machine CPAP that patients can use while sleeping at home but intensive care units use those machines too as a form of ventilation.

CPAP is only one way to treat upper airway resistance and other sleep-related disorders such as Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA).

Part of this OSA therapy, Dr. Bahu offers an alternative for intolerant CPAP users and that is the oral appliance therapies (OAT) – the most advanced FDA cleared appliances on the market today, recognized and accepted by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM). These appliances keep the airway unobstructed during sleep by posturing the mandible in a forward position. With the mandible held forward, the soft palate is unable to collapse and obstruct the Velopharynx; thus, the open airway space decreases apneic episodes during sleep.

The results from the use of OAT have been very successful. Along with increased restful sleep and decreased daytime fatigue and daytime sleepiness, our patients have demonstrated increased energy, weight loss, and a decrease in blood pressure.

It may interest you to know that we are finding great success in working with medical insurance companies. Once patients have been properly tested and diagnosed and are intolerant to CPAP therapy, we can proceed with billing most medical insurance companies.
